Pastor:
Mark Ross
Mark was born in the Midwest but grew up in a lot of places from Alaska to Alabama. In some sense he has not grown up yet. Mark did his undergraduate work at Samford University in Birmingham AL. He earned both a Master's of Divinity and a Doctor in Ministry degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville KY. Mark has served as the pastor of Marion Baptist since 2000. He has three adult children, and is married to Linda Ross. They enjoy mission work, biking and home repair.

Music Ministry:
Jeremy
Jeremy is currently serving as Marion Baptist Church’s Minister of Music and Youth. Jeremy is originally from Hampton, VA where he attended Christopher Newport University and earned his Bachelors of Music in Theory and Composition and a Jazz Certificate. He later moved to Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. There Jeremy earned his Masters of Music with emphasis in Conducting and met his lovely wife Holly.
Jeremy has served as a minister of music or minister of music and youth since he graduated from high school. After serving in two churches in Texas, he felt the call of the Lord to come to Marion, VA.
Jeremy loves to cook and finds yard work relaxing. He is working on beautifying the yard at their house. Jeremy and Holly love animals. While they do not have children at this time, they do have two cats, Dolly and Captain Kirk, and two dogs, Lady and Lacey.

Ruthie Smith
Ruthie Smith has been the church pianist for many years at MBC. Here enthusiasm and devotion to the music ministry is outstanding. Ruthie holds a special place in the hearts of all at MBC.

Church Professional Assistant:
Vana Valentine
Vana was born and grew up in East Tennessee. She is married, lives in the Marion area, and has one daughter, a son-in-law, and two perfect (!) granddaughters. Vana graduated from Virginia Intermont College with a BA Degree in Organizational Management. She has many interests and hobbies.

Minister To Children:
Lisa P. Dockery
Lisa is a native to South West Virginia. She grew up in Richlands, Virginia where she attended school. She married Dennis Dockery from Clinchport, Virginia on April 10, 1982. Lisa & Dennis have two children, Dustin and Whitney, both of whom reside in Marion, VA. She graduated in 1982 from Rye Cove High School located in Rye Cove Virginia. Lisa attended classes at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap Virginia. She has recently received her Certification in Children’s Ministry from the VBMB in September 2007.

Child Development Program Director:
Sandra Osborne
Sandy was born on July 5, and raised in Trinidad. She came to the United States with a missionary group in 1988. She married Joe Osborne from Marion, Virginia on December 21, 1991. They have one child, Shabanna. She attended Wytheville Community College and has studied in Early Childhood Education and continues to take classes to further her education. She has worked with the Child Development Program since June 1992 and became the Director in May 2006. She is a member of Abundant Life Christian Center and serves as the Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, and the ladies Vice President.

Church Organist:
Frances Detweiler
Frances Halsey Crewey Detweiler has been a member of Marion Baptist Church since 1941. The Halsey family have been a faithful servants of the chuch for many years. Frances has served on staff as church secretary and organist. She has also served as Sunday school teacher to children, youth and young adults during the past years. She was married to the late Johnny Crewey who passed away in 1992 and has since married Frank Detweiler. Frances has one son, John David Crewey, who lives with his wife Jane in Bristol. Frank has twin children: Susan Reeve (David) of Harrisburg, PA and Jonathan (Denise) who serves with Campus Crusade for Christ in The Netherlands. Frank and Frances have five grandchildren.
